Customer Case Studies
We offer the following case studies to illustrate our experience and flexibility in working with different types of customers to deliver a variety of solutions. From the simplest hosted solution, to more complex, customized job boards, every customer has specific technology requirements. We are committed to delivering a system which addresses your requirements and supports your business vision.
Case Study 1

The Customer: Publisher of the premier online resource center and printed publication for senior finance executives.

The Challenge: Provide a new job board solution which is tightly integrated with the customer’s web portal and has the following functionality:

  • Centralized job seeker account creation/management, and single sign on, from customer’s web site
  • Centralized employer account creation/management, and single sign on, from customer’s web site
  • Job search and search results on customer’s web site, with real time job searches via underlying API
  • Provide a 'contextual' experience for the visitor - when a search is performed for 'Internal Auditor' in 'NY', also show salary information for Internal Auditor jobs in NY
  • Display of featured job and featured employer information on customer’s web site

  • The Solution: This engagement called for development of several application program interfaces (APIs). The APIs operate under SSL and are accessible only via customer specified IP addresses. Results are returned via XML. The APIs include:

  • Job Seeker API: allow external applications to create and change job seeker accounts, retrieve job seeker account information (including job agent details) and perform an ‘auto logon’ to facilitate the single sign on requirement.
  • Employer API: allow external applications to create and change employer accounts, retrieve employer account information (including searching by keywords) and perform an ‘auto logon’ to facilitate the single sign on requirement.
  • Job Data API: allow real time job search via numerous selection parameters including job category, location, zip code & radius, keyword(s), from record and to record (for paging), specific job number, featured job flag, etc.

  • Sufficient information was included in the API XML responses to allow the customer to query other online services in real time to provide other contextually relevant information on each page.
    Case Study 2

The Customer: Operator of one of the largest networks of legal job boards in the US.

The Challenge: Provide a replacement for the customer’s outdated job board software. The software must allow for an unlimited number of individually branded job boards, each with its own identity and operating under its own domain, to share jobs and resumes with other job boards in the network. The software must also enable a ‘central’ job board, with a unique identity, which includes all job postings across the network in its job search results.

The Solution: ForceFinder modified its software to support the ‘job board grouping’ concept. Grouping allows multiple job boards, each with its own unique ‘wrapper’, identity and domain, to share jobs and resumes with other job boards. Each job board may offer different products and pricing (for job postings, resume bank access, etc.) and promote its own featured employers and jobs.

    Case Study 3

The Customer: A U.S. publisher of a number of printed employment publications.

The Challenge: The customer wished to add online job board advertising to its service offerings. The customer also required ‘context’ driven advertising and informational resources (weather and news) to display to job seekers based on job categories and locations selected in their job searches.

The Solution: ForceFinder customized its software to track job search criteria (job category and location) used in job searches. Location information from the most recent job search was used to dynamically display news and weather for the location selected. Also, the most recent combination of location and job category used to search was used to display banner ads for specific companies on the job search results and job detail pages. This enabled the customer to increase its advertising revenue significantly by charging for ads specific to individual markets AND job categories.

    Case Study 4

The Customer: A national recruiter in the geographic information services (GIS) sector.

The Challenge: The customer was upgrading from another job board provider. This was a relatively straightforward hosted customer situation, but with considerable data to convert including 5,000 job seeker accounts and resumes in their original format (.doc, .pdf, etc.).

The Solution: ForceFinder analyzed the old database schema and provided a data ‘mapping’ between the old and new databases. Data ‘gaps’ between the two database schemas were identified and the customer, together with ForceFinder, made decisions as to how specific data elements would be converted and how missing data elements would be handled. ForceFinder developed and tested a custom data conversion utility which placed the converted data into a test job board site. The customer was given access to the test site in order to review the conversion results. ForceFinder also provided various counts and statistics on the converted data enabling the customer to compare these to the old database metrics. Minor adjustments were made to the conversion utility based on the review/analysis of the converted data. The final conversion was made over a weekend to minimize impact on our customer's clientele.
